Transitional Living > Education

One of our many priorities in the Transitional Living Program is to ensure that our residents receive a quality education. Our residents attend schools in the West Shore School District, which offers a number of academic and vocational programs designed to meet the individual learning needs of their students.

Special education services are provided through the District and occasionally by the Capital Area Intermediate Unit. Through the joint efforts of those systems, students who are learning disabled, or socially and emotionally disturbed, receive specialized help, and are mainstreamed into regular school placements whenever possible. Manito, Inc. and the Yellow Breeches Educational Center provide alternative education services when recommended.

A variety of opportunities are available for our senior high schools students:
-Work study program
-Cumberland-Perry Vocational Technical School
-GED preparatory education through Harrisburg Area Community College
-Post-secondary education is available through a wide range of education programs in the Capital region
