Mentoring > Testimonials

I have been a sponsor for almost five years. I have been so lucky to have been involved in the lives of three wonderful boys. I have found the Sponsorship Mentoring Program very rewarding. It is not because of the time I give to my boys, but the love and appreciation given back to me. Sometimes, as has been my experience, just taking a step to make a commitment to a child will give you such a purpose in life you will never regret or forget.
(Becky J. Nowicki, Sponsor to three residents in the past five years)

I am really enjoying the Read Aloud Mentoring Program. It has exposed me to literature that I had not been exposed to before. I feel good about my time spent with Darrin, and it has been fun for me and rewarding, as I feel that I am doing something beneficial.
(Jane Brown, Reader to a 13 yr. old boy)

My husband, son, and I were a sponsorship family for a year, and really enjoyed having Emmitt spend time in our home. He fit in with us and our extended family so well - all of our visits were so much fun! We continue to remain in contact with him now, even though he has moved on to an adoptive home.
(Angelica Faller, Sponsor to a 13 yr. old boy)

Our family has welcomed the opportunity to help Adam to grow into the man he has become. We are so proud of his accomplishments, especially when it comes to school, and his improvement there. He gives back to us by being loving and caring. He is the newest member of our family and we will always be there for him.
(Marlena Houser, Sponsor to an 18 yr. old boy)

It feels wonderful to know I am making a difference in Nikki's life. She confides in me, and it has been nice to see her grow and mature in the last couple of years. She has grown from a girl to a woman and I feel rewarded to be a part of that.
(Megan Resser, Sponsor to an 18 yr. old girl)

By living our everyday lives, and including these young visitors to our family, we have been blessed by their friendships. Our children, now mostly in their 20s, will never forget Jason who became the big teenage brother to them when they were so young, cool Michael's huge smile, big kind Hank, playing Stratego for hours with Brandon, or celebrating Myreka's birthday. Because of the sponsorship program, these children have become our friends, and, in a sense, our family.
(Nadine Ogden & Family, Sponsor to eight residents over two decades)
