Mentoring > Introduction

Would you like to give of yourself to a young person in need? At the United Methodist Home for Children Residential Care you can do so through our Mentoring Programs. Mentoring is a structured and trusting relationship that brings young people together with caring individuals who offer guidance, support and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of the mentee.

One can contribute their time and talents by participating in our Read Aloud Mentoring Program, Sponsorship Mentoring Program or by participating in activities such as Arts and Crafts, Pet Therapy, Music Therapy/Lessons, Dance Lessons, and tutoring with our residents.

The presence of caring adults offering support, advice, friendship, reinforcement and constructive examples has proved to be a powerful tool for helping young people fulfill their potential. By using your influence you can bring new hope to young lives through the power of mentoring. And you will be surprised how much you will benefit, as well.
