Emergency Shelter > Introduction

In 1997, the UMHC Emergency Shelter for Youth was completed on the campus of the United Methodist Home for Children. The primary purpose of this program is to provide temporary shelter and care to children who, for a variety of reasons, cannot remain in their homes.

Our shelter program includes on-site education, medical services, recreational programs, life skills, and special volunteer activities. Our mission is to provide a safe, structured, and supervised environment for the children and youth placed by various contracting children and youth agencies. The UMHC Emergency Shelter program strives to be responsive to the contracting counties and those children and youth needing emergency placement.
